front cover template

This is my mock up of my front cover. I have used a template of a college magazine that i have posted on a previous post. Using that template i put together my own template with a few minor changes, that i felt needed to be added.

Audiences

In marketing, a target audience, or target group is the primary group of people that something, usually an advertising campaign, is aimed at appealing to. A target audience can be people of a certain age group, gender, marital status, etc

This definition is used in media in this case of magazines, becasue each magazine needs a target audience so that it can sell copies.
For instance, the NME magazine is targeted at audiences, like (16-25) as there are articles and infomation that interests them like certain gigs etc.
In many ways magazines like the NME target a few different audiences, as readers of magazines are all different and some people read a certain magazine for a different reason than another person would read the magazine.

Conventions of a contents page

A contents page is the page that tells the readers were everything is inside the magazine. It has the page numbers next to the things that can be found. It is usual to have small sections of text briefly telling the readers more about the pages. This is also sometimes accompanied by other small pictures.

NME magazine.....front cover analysis

This is the NME magazine and this is can be compared to the college magazine, as it has all of the same conventional things, for instance. The title, the subtitles of what is in the magazine, a picture of what is expected to be in the magazine. The overall first view of the magazine to attract the correct audience.

This edition of the NME magazine has the main focus of the magzine on the Leeds/Reading festival, this is made clear with the Reading and Leeds festival written in the centre of the front cover. The full-page picture also backs this up, as it is a picture of the festival 2007, with the main focus of the picture being The Enemy one of the up and coming bands of that time.
The name of the magazine NME, is written at the top in bold red letters with the date in small black font underneath it. Alongside this there is a few small pictures with borders round telling the reader about posters that are inside the magazine, which may interest the readr more, and persuade them to buy the magazine.
Finally at the very bottom of the front cover, there are smaller pictures with borders round show some of the other things that are inside the magazine that may interest the reader. They hae their own little sub-titles that tell the reader what they are about aswell.

college magazine template

This is a picture of a college magazine template. It has all the conventions of a typical magazine.

  • A title

  • Sub-titles of what is inside it

  • A picture on the front (relevant to whats inside it)
The languge used on this front cover is relevent to whats inside and to the audience the magazine is produced for.
The audience for this magazine are the students at the college which this magazine is produced for.
